The Community Action Partnership is deeply saddened by the recent violence that has rocked our nation. We wish to express our heartbreak and extend our condolences to the families and communities affected in Baton Rouge, LA; Falcon Heights, MN; Dallas, TX; and the communities nationwide who have experienced similar tragedies, documented and undocumented-in times past and times present. We denounce all forms of violence and any acts that dehumanize anyone. To this end, we remain committed to supporting Community Action Agencies, which are often embedded in communities on the front lines of social unrest in our country.
The Partnership stands with all persons regardless of their socioeconomic background, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, or location. And it is in these moments we are dedicated to live up to our full name: Community Action. We are called to embody the "spirit of hope" and to act in collaboration with citizens who are systematically disenfranchised, and with leaders at all levels to make America a better place to live for everyone. During the early 1960s, a time filled with economic and racial turmoil, the task was great - seemingly unreachable to some - but we did not shy away from the challenge then, nor will we shy away now. This is the Promise of Community Action!
Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
