We thank K. E. Hernandez for bringing to the attention of the community the frustrations and concerns many low-income people face when trying to find affordable housing.
Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership assists low-income individuals and families to find suitable and affordable housing throughout eastern Idaho. EICAP manages apartment complexes in Arco, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Rexburg and St. Anthony.
In addition to affordable rental properties, EICAP helps individuals and families realize their dreams of home ownership through the Mutual Self-Help Housing Program.
MSHH helps income-eligible individuals and families work with others in their new neighborhood to build each others' homes. The homebuilders' "sweat equity" serves as their down payments. A disabled person may designate others to work on their behalf. For those who wish to work toward their goal of owning their own home, EICAP offers homeownership planning as well as budget counseling to help people pay off their debt and restore their credit.
We urge K.E. Hernandez and others to contact us so we may work with them one-on-one to explore housing options to fit their needs and financial situation.
To find out more about our community service programs or to make an appointment to meet with one of our housing counselors, please call us at 522-5391. Information about EICAP and assistance programs is available on the Internet at www.eicap.org. You may also request information by sending a letter to EICAP, P.O. Box 51098, Idaho Falls, ID 83405.
