Health Services

EICAP Head Start health services assists parents to obtain complete medical and dental examinations and immunizations. Head Start staff members work hard to make sure that children enrolled in our program have an ongoing accessible source of health care after the child leaves Head Start.

Each year during the first few weeks of school, Head Start children participate in vision and hearing screenings. Other health screenings are done twice a year as well. If issues are identified, referrals are made to appropriate specialists.

In addition, dental fluoride varnishes are provided twice a year in the centers. As part of the curriculum, the Head Start children brush their teeth daily to promote oral health.

Because healthy children are more successful in school, Head Start works with families to make sure each child is healthy and happy.
